The most beautiful monument of Guskov Park in the Russian city of Orenburg is, undoubtedly, the monument known as the “Children of War”. Built on the public donations, the monument features the generation of children who worked in the rear to bring Victory closer. These children had the most difficult years and trials. According to sources, the first stone on the site of the future monument appeared in December 2010. The author of the sculptural composition – Natalya Brovko, the main artist of Orenburg.
Noteworthy, the sculptural group itself was cast in Yekaterinburg (according to other sources, in Chelyabinsk). September 9, 2013 in the Guskov park, the grand opening of the monument “Children of War” took place.
The erected monument is a two-figured bronze composition on a granite pedestal, located in the center of the site, paved with slabs. A commemorative inscription on the monument reads – Children of War. Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. There are benches along the perimeter of the site in the shade of trees.
The officials, locals and of course, War veterans also attended the opening of the monument, plunging into the atmosphere of those hard years. Among the guests was the hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Roshchin, who went through many difficult front-line roads.

One of the guests recalled: “We, children were ten years old, and we all worked in the field. It was very difficult, but none of the children ever said “I don’t want to, I won’t, or I’m tired.” Everyone went from dawn to dawn to work”. Therefore, the creation of the monument was a very important event for these people.
