Sculpture Prosperity in Florida
The pandemic has not stopped Cape Town artist Daniel Popper from traveling to the US to create a new large-scale sculpture that continues his cycle of figurative arch work, which combines traditional materials with organics: living plants, leaves and trees.
Let me remind you that in 2018 he became famous for his festival installation “Ven a la Luz” (“Behold the Light”) in the resort town of Ahau Tulum. This year, his work “Thrive” (“Prosperity”) became the attraction of the new residential complex “Society Las Olas” in Fort Lauderdale (Florida).
The sculpture depicts an arch in the form of a female bust, metaphorically symbolizing sacrifice. The work reaches nine meters in height and is made of concrete reinforced with fiberglass. It looks like Prosperity will remain as a permanent art piece in this residential complex.
