Homunculus Loxodontus – Eternally waiting humanoid monument
Eternally waiting humanoid monument
In May 2016 Dutch artist Margriet Van Breevoort installed her sculpture Homunculus Loxodontus near a children’s hospital in the town of Lend. Translated from the Latin – “humanoid elephant” the sculpture symbolizes people waiting in the queue to see a doctor. According to the artist herself, her character is “a kind of failed experiment, he waits and hopes to get better”. Besides, he is “like a big lump of flesh, but so cute that many want to embrace him.” By the way, in 2016 the sculpture became the most photographed attraction in Lend.
